Privacy Policy

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Meuchner Inc. ("Meuchner," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit meuchner.com (the "Site"), make a purchase, sign up for marketing communications, or otherwise interact with us, including at in-person retail locations where our pieces are sold.

This Policy applies to Customers and visitors of the Site. It does not apply to third-party sites linked from the Site, which have their own privacy practices.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Identifiers: name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address.
  • Order information: items purchased, order history, customization details for bespoke and made-to-order pieces, and communications about your order.
  • Payment information: our payment processor, Shopify Payments, collects and stores your card or payment details directly; we retain only limited information needed to process your order, issue refunds, or resolve disputes (such as an order number and the last four digits of a card).
  • Account information: if you create an account on the Site, your login credentials and saved preferences.
  • Marketing preferences: your email address and communication preferences if you sign up for our mailing list.
  • Automatically collected information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and similar data collected through cookies and similar technologies when you use the Site (see Section 4).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process and fulfill your orders, including bespoke and made-to-order commissions
  • Communicate with you about your order, account, or inquiries
  • Send marketing emails, if you have opted in, using our email platform (Klaviyo)
  • Maintain and improve the Site and our product offerings
  • Detect and prevent fraud and unauthorized transactions
  • Comply with tax, accounting, and other legal obligations

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the Site. Cookies may also support analytics tools that help us see aggregate trends in Site traffic and performance.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them; doing so may affect how parts of the Site function. The Site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share information only as needed to:

  • Process payments, through our payment processor, Shopify Payments
  • Ship your order, through our shipping carriers — UPS for domestic orders and DHL for international orders
  • Send marketing emails you've opted into, through Klaviyo
  • Comply with a legal obligation, such as a subpoena or court order
  • Protect against fraud, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Meuchner, our Customers, or others
  • Support a business transaction, such as a merger, financing, or sale of assets, in which personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction

Each of these service providers is only permitted to use your information to perform services on our behalf.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar laws in states such as Colorado, Connecticut, and Virginia. These rights may include the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you
  • Request a copy of, or delete, your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (Meuchner does not sell personal information; see Section 5)
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.

7. Marketing Communications & Opt-Out

If you've signed up to receive marketing emails from us, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by contacting us directly. Opting out of marketing emails does not affect transactional emails related to an order you've placed.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy — including maintaining your order history, complying with tax and accounting recordkeeping requirements, and resolving disputes — after which it is deleted or de-identified.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption for payment data in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18. If we learn that we've collected personal information from a child under 18, we will delete it.

11. International Visitors

The Site is operated in the United States, and personal information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, and processed in, the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your home country.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The updated Policy will be posted on the Site with a new "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
